WiFi Issues? Try this!

Does your WiFi signal keep dropping? If so, there are a few things you should know. WiFi is a technology that uses radio waves to provide network connectivity between devices.

Therefore, there are many factors that can interfere with the radio waves. Flooring, walls, furniture, weather, other radio waves etc.

So, how does one ensure reliable WiFi? Here's a simple solution: Check your router.

What is a router? A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the traffic directing functions on the Internet. Wikipedia

Solution One : Upgrade your router

How old is your router? Hardware is made to last roughly 3 to 5 years. With the faster internet of today : outdated hardware may not have the capability to support the higher speeds.

Solution Two : Change your bandwidth to 5GHz

Many routers come pre- set up with 2.4GHz band. This band is used everywhere, as it is also the public bandwidth. So, you can imagine if everyone is on this band the signal can become very congested and your signal will be lost. If your router only has the 2.4GHz band, it is time to update your router. When searching for a new router be sure to purchase one that has 2 or more bands. A dual band router will offer both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidth. Switch your bandwidth to 5GHz and this should solve the issues.
