OUR MASTER THE MONK
Dan Nou brings many life experience to the studio. Born in Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Hen, he came from a line of academics, his father a Doctor of medicine and mother a professor.
In Cambodia his family had more than everything they could ask for in life. In the late 1970’S however, in just one short instant everything was lost!
The communist Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia’S capital city Phnom Phen and his family was forced out of their home at gun point and into the Killing Fields. Many of his family members we killed and executed. After five years of touchier, famine and regime his family was than sponsored to Canada.
His mother wanting only the best for him brought her son to a Cambodian Buddhist temple in Calgary. In order to protect him from negative and bad energy, she had asked the monks to do a ceremony for him. Being a teenager at the time, Master Dan was not wanting to participate but in respect to his parents he did.
At the age of 19 he decided to become a monk to show respect to his parents for their understanding and support. His family traveled to Santa Anna California where he became a monk. As an apprentice to his late Grand Master Loc Ta Peiu it was at this temple where he found
his mental, emotional, spiritual and physical balance.
